How To Catch A Fish
I'm sure most men have taken a fishing trip at some point in their lives, however in today's society many men have grown up in cities and either haven't had the chance or the interest to learn how to be an angler.
For me, my childhood consisted of weekly trips to the trailer where Saturdays were either spent fishing (if you were a man) or shopping at garage sales (if you were a woman). Having a plethora of fishing knowledge under my belt seems normal to me, and knowing how to feed your family should you ever become stranded in the wilderness is something a man shouldn't take lightly.

Facing the Mistakes of Life
Facing the Mistakes of Life
From The Crown of Individuality, 1909
By William George Jordan
There are only two classes of people who never make mistakes—they are the dead and the unborn. Mistakes are the inevitable accompaniment of the greatest gift given to man—individual freedom of action. If he were only a pawn in the fingers of Omnipotence, with no self-moving power, man would never make a mistake, but his very immunity would degrade him to the ranks of the lower animals and the plants. An oyster never makes a mistake—it has not the mind that would permit it to forsake an instinct.

The Modern Man
![]() |
There has been some discussion about reaching the qualities and attributes of an "old fashioned man": the Cary Grant/Humphrey Bogart types. While they were indeed men and quite good at being men, they were modern to their contemporary time. A man must adapt to the changing circumstances of life in order to remain relevant. Even characters like James Bond have been made to answer the call of the 21st century and our contemporary modern times by giving up the misogyny and using technology.

Creating Your Legacy
Last night Alicia and I watched the movie Troy and I got to thinking about a line that Brad Pitt's character Achilles said.
Essentially, a young boy had been sent to retrieve Achilles and bring him to fight a man that could only be described as giant. The boy was obviously fearful of the large man and said he would not want to fight if it was him. Achilles simply said, "that is why no one will remember your name".

Don Draper For President
I have an old school mentality and as such I am not always politically correct. I love that about myself. I don't agree with the way that media, feminists, minorites, etc. have made it a sin to be a white male in the 21st century. The televison show "Mad Men" has reminded me of a few of the things that we as men once enjoyed before the emasculation of men.
