Don Draper For President

I have an old school mentality and as such I am not always politically correct. I love that about myself. I don't agree with the way that media, feminists, minorites, etc. have made it a sin to be a white male in the 21st century. The televison show "Mad Men" has reminded me of a few of the things that we as men once enjoyed before the emasculation of men.

The 50's was the last era where people were free. Free to do as they like, where they liked. If a man wanted a cigarette in his children's daycare center he had one. It was considered odd if a man didn't have a bottle or two in his office and damned if he didnt have a drink if he felt like it at 10 in the morning. Try that now. People were better behaved, had more respect for each other and actually gave a shit when they got dressed in the morning. A man was the king of his castle, and while the queen had her say, his decision stood.

Men were responsible for things. A Saturday afternoon was spent taking care of his castle drinking a beer and wearing a plain white t-shirt and jeans that he managed to make look as fashionable as his weekday work attire. Weekday afternoons were spent at Martini lunches that helped foster many relationships that led to the shape of today's biggest companies, all while having a generous buzz on. Nowadays a buzzed executive would probably end up in a rehab suite instead of the penthouse suite.

As men today, we can learn a lot from Don Draper. An alpha male to the core, he lives his life according to his own rules and is usually the final authority on any given matter concerning him. If we could all be so lucky to be a little more like Don.
