There has been some discussion about reaching the qualities and attributes of an "old fashioned man": the Cary Grant/Humphrey Bogart types. While they were indeed men and quite good at being men, they were modern to their contemporary time. A man must adapt to the changing circumstances of life in order to remain relevant. Even characters like James Bond have been made to answer the call of the 21st century and our contemporary modern times by giving up the misogyny and using technology.
So, what exactly is the "modern man?" What traits, styles, and skills should he have?
A Basic Understanding Of Sciences And Technology
We live in such a tech-heavy world, it is becoming a prerequisite for life. This is not to say one should automatically be an astrophysicist/engineer, but a familiarity with the workings of tech products, repairing such products, and the scientific laws governing the world.
Chivalry
It never goes out of style.
A Familiarity With Various Languages And Cultures
At the very least, one should be bilingual. In the age of globalization and intermixing cultures, with a postnational identity spreading, this is becoming more and more necessary.
A Good Work Ethic
A man can't be afraid to roll up his sleeves and get his hands dirty. Anything worth achieving carries a bit of work with it and a man cannot let that put him off.
